Double Your Impact: Bender Lumber offers $4,500 Red Kettle matching gift this weekend

LAWRENCE CO. — Shoppers preparing for post-Thanksgiving sales will have a chance to double their charitable giving this Friday and Saturday, thanks to a generous matching gift from Bender Lumber.

The local company has pledged to match every dollar dropped into Salvation Army Red Kettles on Friday, November 28th, and Saturday, November 29th, up to a total of $4,500. This crucial two-day challenge is a major boost for The Salvation Army’s annual fundraising campaign, with every donation making twice the impact for local programs.

“Please come out and support the Salvation Army and help us reach that number!” said Becky Ashley, Salvation Army Representative for Lawrence County

Volunteers Urgently Needed

While the donation match provides a significant financial incentive, The Salvation Army is also making an urgent plea for volunteer bell ringers to staff the iconic Red Kettles.

The Red Kettle Campaign is a vital source of funding for the organization’s year-round services, which provide food, shelter, utility assistance, and holiday help for local families in need. The campaign runs every day—except Sundays—through December 24th. (However, if Sunday is the only day a volunteer can assist, they are encouraged to contact the Salvation Army to make arrangements).

  • To Sign Up for Ring: Individuals, families, and groups can register for available hours by visiting www.registertoring.com or by calling The Salvation Army directly at 812-675-2550. Volunteers are asked to sign up for whatever time slots they have available to help ensure the kettles are staffed throughout the holiday season.

Shoppers looking to make their dollars go twice as far should visit any Red Kettle location on Friday, November 28th, or Saturday, November 29th. The Bender Lumber match means a $10 donation becomes $20, directly supporting neighbors in the local community who rely on The Salvation Army for critical assistance.
