BLOOMINGTON—Start your holiday season with a touch of warmth and sweetness! Mayor Kerry Thomson and Deputy Mayor Gretchen Knapp are inviting the community to a complimentary Cocoa and Cookies reception this Friday, November 28, just before the city’s annual holiday lighting spectacle, the Canopy of Lights.

The festive gathering will take place from 5:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Bonne Fête, located at 112 W. 6th St. Attendees can enjoy complimentary hot cocoa and cookies as they mingle and prepare for the “magical” show that lights up the downtown square.
While enjoying the treats, guests are encouraged to explore Bonne Fête, a local shop known for its unique arts and gifts. It’s the perfect opportunity to get a head start on holiday shopping and spark some seasonal inspiration.
Free Holiday Parking Announced
In addition to the festivities, the city announced that metered parking will be free on several key dates for holiday shopping to encourage residents and visitors to spend time downtown.
The complimentary parking dates are:
- Thanksgiving Weekend: November 28–30
- Week Before Christmas: December 18–24
The Cocoa and Cookies event is a beloved tradition that officially kicks off the holiday season in Bloomington, leading directly into the highly anticipated Canopy of Lights display on the Courthouse Square.
