Test Your Tree Smarts: Winter Tree ID Workshop coming to Crown Hill

INDIANA – Calling all tree enthusiasts! Crown Hill Cemetery and Arboretum is partnering with the Indiana Arborist Association to host a specialized workshop focused on identifying trees during the winter months.

The event is designed to equip participants with the skills needed to identify deciduous trees when leaves are absent. Attendees will learn to use subtle signs, such as leaf scars, bark characteristics, and other ground clues, to identify a tree’s species.

The workshop will be held on Thursday, December 17, from 1:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Crown Hill Cemetery and Arboretum. The cost to attend is $20.

The $20 registration fee includes both general admission to the event and a copy of the helpful field guide, “Winter Tree Finder: Identifying Deciduous Trees of Eastern North America by Their Bark and Twigs.”

Interested participants can register for the workshop here.
