Loogootee kicks off holiday season with full slate of festive events

LOOGOOTEE— The City of Loogootee is gearing up for a full, festive holiday season, inviting residents and visitors to “mingle, jingle, and celebrate together” with a lineup of events for all ages kicking off at the end of November.

The official start to the holiday cheer includes a 5K race, tree lighting, a Christmas Stroll, and even ice skating later in December.

November: Running and Lights

The festivities begin right after Thanksgiving weekend with two key events:

  • Gobble Wobble 5K: The celebration starts early on Friday, November 29, at 8 a.m., giving participants a chance to run off their holiday meal.
  • Tree Lighting Ceremony: The official lighting of the city tree will take place on Saturday, November 30, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The evening will feature vendors for early holiday shopping and photos with Santa Claus.

December brings the main parade and multiple days of ice skating fun:

  • Christmas Stroll & Parade: On Saturday, December 7, downtown Loogootee will host its annual Christmas Stroll from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Stroll will feature live reindeer, additional vendors, and more opportunities to visit with Santa. The event culminates with the Dashing Through Loogootee Parade at 6 p.m.
  • Ice Skating at the Park: The holiday fun wraps up with three days of outdoor ice skating:
    • Friday, December 19: 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
    • Saturday, December 20: 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.
    • Sunday, December 21: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
