Bedford Christmas Parade to light up Downtown Dec. 6

BEDFORD The magic of the holiday season will light up downtown Bedford once again as the annual Bedford Christmas Parade returns on Saturday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. The much-loved community tradition, known as one of southern Indiana’s largest illuminated parades, will fill the streets with twinkling lights, festive floats, and holiday cheer.

Local businesses, churches, civic groups, and individuals are all invited to take part in this year’s celebration. Entry is free, and participants are encouraged to get creative with their displays — as long as they shine bright. Every entry in the parade must include lights, whether powered by batteries, generators, or inverters, to help make the procession glow from start to finish.

Those interested in joining the parade can register online through Downtown Bedford, Inc. at downtownbedford.org/bedford-christmas-parade.html. Line-up for participants will begin at 3 p.m. at 14th and M streets, where members of the Bedford Lions Club will assist with check-in and staging. All entries should be in position by 4:30 p.m. to be eligible for judging before the parade begins.

Spectators can expect a dazzling display of more than 100 illuminated entries, from marching bands and community floats to classic cars, fire trucks, and holiday performances. Each year, the event draws families from across Lawrence County and beyond, all eager to kick off the Christmas season with a little small-town sparkle.
