SEYMOUR – Fall festivities are on hold at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge. The Muscatatuck Wildlife Society announced today that the annual Log Cabin Day event, scheduled for this Saturday, has been canceled due to the ongoing government shutdown.
The shutdown has forced the closure of the refuge’s visitors center and all associated services and activities. According to organizers, this closure prevented necessary preparations from being completed in time for the weekend event.
Log Cabin Day is traditionally held to celebrate National Wildlife Refuge Week, which begins this Sunday.
Organizers extended their thanks to the many volunteers who had dedicated their time and talent to planning the event, and they expressed their anticipation for resuming the activities next year. Visitors are advised to monitor the refuge’s official channels for updates on when operations will return to normal.
