INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Library (ISL) invites the public to its upcoming Lunch and Learn session, “Introduction to Native American Research,” on Tuesday, November 18, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
The informative hybrid event, presented by longtime ISL Genealogy Librarian Sarah Pfundstein, will focus on providing attendees with the essential knowledge and tools needed to trace Native American ancestry and history.
The presentation will cover the fundamental methodologies of Native American research, guiding participants on how to effectively utilize records found in federal, state, and local repositories. A key component of the session will include a discussion on the history of Native American tribes in the U.S. and their migration across the country.
This research can often be complex, and Pfundstein will highlight the various sources and locations where these vital records are housed.
The “Introduction to Native American Research” will be offered in a hybrid format, giving attendees the flexibility to participate either in-person or virtually:
- In-Person Session: Held in the History Reference Room at the Indiana State Library, located at 315 W. Ohio St. in downtown Indianapolis.
- Virtual Session: Available online via Zoom.
The program is also eligible for one LEU (Library Education Unit) for Indiana library staff seeking professional development credit.
Registration is required for both attendance options. Click here to read more and to register for the in-person session. Click here to register for the online session.
