INDIANA—As Halloween approaches, a new study tracking candy preferences across the U.S. has crowned Hershey’s as Indiana’s favorite sweet treat, despite the chocolate brand ranking second nationally.

The analysis, conducted by the price-tracking website PriceListo.com, examined average monthly Google searches for 229 different candies between October 2024 and September 2025 to gauge public interest and favorites ahead of the holiday season.
Indiana’s Top 5 Candies
In Indiana, the rankings show a clear preference for classic chocolate:
- Hershey’s: (4,034 monthly searches)
- Ferrero Rocher: (3,848 monthly searches)
- Candy Corn: (3,751 monthly searches)
- Oreo: (3,669 monthly searches)
- Caramel: (3,116 monthly searches)
National Trends
While Hershey’s took the top spot in Indiana, the national crown belongs to the hazelnut-and-chocolate delicacy, Ferrero Rocher.

The study found that Ferrero Rocher was the number one candy in 18 states. Hershey’s followed in second place, being the favorite in nine states. Oreo ranked third overall, with candy corn and caramel candy rounding out the top five nationally.
The complete list of state rankings was compiled based on the highest average monthly search volume for various candy-related search terms nationwide.
