Spaghetti on the Square raises record $41K for Bedford Men’s Warming Shelter

BEDFORD — A warm September evening and a spirit of generosity combined to make this year’s “Spaghetti on the Square” fundraiser the most successful yet for the Men’s Warming Shelter of Bedford.

Families packed Harp Commons to enjoy a wonderful meal for an even better cause

Heather Flynn, the shelter’s director, said more than $41,000 was raised Saturday on the downtown square, surpassing totals from recent years — $35,000 in 2023 and $37,000 in 2024.

Flynn said 860 people enjoyed the meal, which included 130 pounds of spaghetti, 30 gallons of sauce, and 1,800 meatballs. Sixty volunteers helped serve, while WQRK provided music throughout the evening. A silent auction with 54 items donated by local artisans and businesses also added to the success.

Locally donated silent auction items are a huge boost to the event, and a favorite at the event

“It took six months of planning, a dozen meetings, and the support of 75 sponsors to make it happen,” Flynn said. “We are incredibly grateful to our community for their love and support and to all who gave their time, money, and hard work.”

Flynn noted that the event was open to everyone, including those experiencing hunger or homelessness, who were encouraged to attend and enjoy a hot meal.

The drive-thru option was popular, often pulling double duty

She said the annual dinner is more than just a fundraiser; it is an example of how Bedford comes together to support those in our community who need it most.

Youth engagement and development were a focus as well. Tyson Chase with Superior Steam looks on as Delynda Kallis flaunts her creation.

The Men’s Warming Shelter provides overnight accommodations, meals, and support in so many different ways to men experiencing homelessness in Bedford during the winter months.
