The National American Miss pageant system focuses on building confidence and teaching real-world skills, with community service counting toward a contestant’s final score. Rivera has been competing since 2014 and chose the organization for its values and belief system, which attracts “smart and like-minded women.”

Rivera is currently a junior at Indiana University Indianapolis, where she is majoring in biology on the pre-dental track and is enrolled in the university’s honors biology program.

A significant focus of her community work is with Girls Inc. of Jackson County, an organization that has been part of her life for 10 years. Over the summer, she and her mother, Claudia Rivera, created the Limitless Leaders program, hosting in-person sessions with kindergartners and first graders.

Rivera will go on to represent Indiana and compete for the national title against 52 women at the National American Miss National pageant, which takes place from November 23 through November 30.
