Laney Wilder crowned 2025 Junior Miss Persimmon Festival Queen, Court announced

MITCHELL — The Persimmon Festival crowned its newest Junior Miss Queen on Monday night, with Laney Wilder earning the top title during the pageant held on the festival’s main stage in downtown Mitchell.

Wilder was joined by a court of princesses, including Kennlyn Baker, Abigail Gratzer, Rhylee Blackwell, and Hazel Arnold. Violet Stanley received the title of Miss Congeniality, chosen by her peers for her kindness and spirit.

Family, friends, and festivalgoers filled the streets to cheer on the contestants, making the coronation one of the festival’s most anticipated youth events. The Junior Miss queen and her court will take part in various activities throughout the week, including parades and appearances that celebrate Mitchell’s community traditions.

The Junior Miss contest is one of several pageants at the Persimmon Festival, which also includes Mini Miss, Little Miss, and Queen competitions. Together, the events highlight the accomplishments of young participants while carrying on a long-standing tradition at the heart of Mitchell’s signature celebration.
