WASHINGTON – The Daviess County Christmas Parade Committee has announced plans for its 41st Annual Christmas Parade, scheduled for Saturday, December 6, at 5:30 p.m. This year’s event will kick off in downtown Washington and will be centered around the theme “An American Christmas,” chosen to commemorate the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary.
Parade entries are encouraged to decorate their floats with lights and festive music. The best floats will be recognized with prizes in several categories:
- Best Overall: $200 and a trophy
- Best Business/Commercial: $150 and a trophy
- Best Non-Profit: $100 and a trophy
Additionally, a local business will be awarded a Best Lighted Window Display prize of $100 and a trophy.
Following the parade, the holiday festivities will continue at the Commons at Main and 3rd Streets. Children will have the opportunity to meet Santa Claus, and the Little Warrior Wishes organization will be on hand to distribute free storybooks.
