Ruby Catharine East, 96, passed away on September 5, 2025, at her residence in Bedford.
She was born on December 2, 1928, in Quinton, Kentucky, the daughter of James and Thelma (Mayfield) East.
Ruby was a graduate of Oolitic High School. She enjoyed reading and listening to music and was a devoted Catholic. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Aunt Ruby was sweet and kind to every person she met, and she always saw the good in people. She was considered to be an angel from heaven in most people’s eyes. She will be deeply missed.
Surviving are one brother, Terry East; one sister, Opal Lee Beltran; and many nieces and nephews: Gary, Regina, Ed, Alan, Tim, Steve, Pat, Mary Anne, Karen, Linda, Desiree, Terrie, Jackie, Tonya, Cheryl, Susan, Becky, Michael, Nokia, and Mark.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, James East and Thelma (Mayfield) East; her five brothers, James East, Frank East, Carl East, Cecil East, and Rufus Marion East; her three sisters, Sally Root Ollis, Etta Jean East, and Carolyn East; one nephew, Frank Darrell East; her two nieces, Thereasa Gail East and Maragret Rose Weber.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ruby East on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Bedford, with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, with the Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m.
