BEDFORD – For every action, there is an opposite reaction. That’s Newton’s Third Law of Motion. It’s supposed to be equal in magnitude. Columbus East broke that law.
Countering Bedford North Lawrence’s offensive push with a fast reversal, the Olympians turned BNL’s aggression against it, recording a 3-0 victory over the Stars on Tuesday.
Sophie Glick, who had flicked home only one goal this season, clicked with a hat trick as East (2-4 overall, 1-0 in the Hoosier Hills Conference) ended a four-match losing streak.
The Stars (2-5, 0-3 in the league) were in attack mode, forcing the issue with consistent chances in front of the East net. But when BNL got too bold, Glick would find wide-open space and openings to the net. She recorded her first goal at 36:38 in the first half, then added the insurance scores in the second.

The counter-attack strategy worked perfectly.
“That was the game plan,” East coach Grace Manning said. “We have some speedy players.”
Glick was the fastest to a long through ball, winning the race and cracking a shot into the left corner of the goal at 23:29 of the second half. She added her third with 2:29 left.
“We were trying to focus on scoring, we had a lot of people pushed up,” BNL coach Bret Roberts said. “We had good offensive opportunities. But we were too worried about that, and we weren’t reacting fast enough. We were unorganized.”
BNL will return to action on Thursday at Jennings County.
