Knights of Columbus ‘Tootsie Roll Drive’ to benefit local citizens with disabilities

BEDFORD — The Knights of Columbus will hold its 48th Annual Tootsie Roll Drive on September 5 and 6 to raise funds for local citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The money collected will support several organizations, including the Lawrence County Arc, Lawrence County Special Olympics, and special education programs within local schools.

The drive will benefit students at North Lawrence Community Schools, Mitchell Community Schools, St. Vincent de Paul School, Lawrence County Independent Schools, and the Springville Community Academy.

Since the first drive in 1978, the Bedford Knights of Columbus Council has raised more than half a million dollars. These funds have been used to provide essential resources, such as life-skills classroom furnishings, accessible playground equipment, instructional supplies, and awnings to protect children with disabilities from the weather while they board the bus.

Volunteers will be soliciting donations on September 5 and 6 at local businesses, including Walmart, Rural King, Price Less IGA, and Johnny Junxions. Donations can also be mailed to: Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Drive, 2202 M Street, Bedford, IN 47421.
