BEDFORD — A new funeral home, Limestone Chapel of George Funeral Care, opens today, August 22, in Bedford. The chapel is located at 527 15th Street, a building with a history of serving the community.
The new business is owned by local entrepreneurs Derek and Abby George, who also own G&W Monuments as well as Queen-Lee Funeral Homes in Shoals.
Derek, a licensed funeral director for over 10 years with nearly 15 years in the industry, is the day-to-day owner and operator of the Limestone Chapel. Abby will serve as the Continuing Care Director.
The couple has renovated the former location of Guide Pointe Church and JC’s Christian Academy, which more recently housed River’s Edge Fellowship Church.

The new funeral care facility will be operated by the Georges, who aim to provide compassionate service to local families. They offer a Continuing Care program, which ensures that families receive the support they need after the funeral. Abby George, the director of this program, will personally follow up with families in the weeks and months afterward, checking in to see how they’re doing, providing grief resources, helping with paperwork or benefits, and offering guidance on memorials or other needs that may arise.
