VIGO CO. — The Indiana State Police (ISP) Putnamville District is conducting a death investigation after a man drowned in Paint Mill Lake. The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department requested assistance from the ISP on August 14, 2025.
The deceased has been identified as Tony Ingargiola, a 47-year-old man from Cayuga, Indiana. An identification was made by the Vigo County Coroner, Travis Norris, following an autopsy performed at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
Indiana State Police Detective Colton Maynor and Chris Springstun of the DNR are leading the investigation. Trooper Bill Clark and Crime Scene Investigators are assisting them: Sergeants Michael Organ and Tim Rader from the Putnamville State Police Post. The Vigo County Coroner’s Office is also helping with the case, which remains ongoing.
Once the investigation is complete, the findings will be submitted to the Vigo County Prosecutor’s office for review. No further information is available at this time.
