BLOOMINGTON — A unique wellness program called “Forest Bathing” is inviting residents to improve their mental and physical health by immersing themselves in nature. Led by a certified professional, the program uses mindfulness, meditation, and movement to help participants connect with the outdoors for their well-being.

The program consists of three separate sessions, each approximately 2.25 hours long, at different outdoor locations. The total cost is $60 for all three sessions, and participants must register in advance. All sessions run from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. To register for the event, click here.
Session Locations and Details
- Session One: On September 15, the group will meet at the Waterfall Shelter in Lower Cascades Park. Participants will walk about 930 feet on an uneven, natural-surface path to the Lower Cascades Waterfall. The walking path from the parking lot to the shelter is asphalt. Seating will be available on benches or the ground.
- Session Two: On September 17, the program will move to Rose Hill Cemetery. Participants will meet inside the cemetery and walk on hilly, paved paths. They should bring a yoga mat or blanket for sitting on the ground.
- Session Three: The final session is on September 19 at Griffy Lake Nature Preserve. The group will meet at the dam and must climb 150 stairs to reach the South Shore Trail. Participants will walk between 1,000 and 1,400 feet on the trail, which has an uneven surface. Benches and rocks will be available for seating.

All sessions are held outdoors, and attendees should dress for the weather and bring a filled water bottle. For weather-related updates, a Community Events Hotline is available at 812-349-3754.
