BEDFORD— Two Mitchell residents were cited for possession of marijuana after a routine traffic stop on Mitchell Road. The incident occurred on Friday, August 8, 2025, and led to the discovery of THC vape pens and cartridges inside the vehicle.
Bedford Police Officer Bailey Duprey initiated a traffic stop on a maroon Chevrolet Impala after observing it traveling 53 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. The driver was identified as Kayne Henderson, 26, and his passenger was Amanda Carpenter, 20.

After the initial business of the traffic stop was completed, Officer Duprey asked Henderson for permission to ask some additional questions. Henderson agreed and, in an audio and video-recorded exchange, admitted there was a “dab pen” in the car, stating that Carpenter had tried to hide it when the police lights were activated.
This admission provided probable cause for a search of the vehicle. During the search, officers located a THC electronic cigarette near the center console, as Henderson had described. Inside Carpenter’s handbag, two more THC e-cigs and several empty THC cartridge refill capsules were found.
A five-month-old infant was also in the car during the search.
Henderson and Carpenter were both issued summonses to appear in court. Henderson faces a charge of possession of marijuana with prior conviction, and Carpenter is facing a charge of possession of marijuana.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the Probable Cause Affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
