BEDFORD— Lawrence County residents have an opportunity to take charge of their heart health this month with “Be Heart Smart,” a four-week interactive program aimed at lowering the risk of heart disease and promoting lifelong healthy habits.

The series begins Aug. 21 and includes weekly hands-on lessons, free heart health screenings, cooking and tasting demonstrations, and take-home meal kits. Participants will also be entered into a drawing for small kitchen appliances.
The program costs $20 for the full series, with financial assistance available. Registration is required by calling 812-275-4623 or visiting this link.
Organizers say the program is designed to be both educational and practical, giving residents the tools to make lasting lifestyle changes.
The effort is funded by the Lawrence County Community Foundation, with support from the Lawrence County Health Department, StoneGate Arts & Education Center, and Lost River Co-op and Café.
