SEYMOUR — The Schneck Foundation is inviting the community to a free educational seminar on advance care planning as part of its “Covered and in Control” series. The event, titled “Advance Care Planning: Preparing for the Unexpected,” will take place on Thursday, September 4, at 5:30 p.m. in Classroom 500 of the Schneck Professional Building. A complimentary dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m.

The seminar is designed to help individuals and families learn how to prepare for the future by discussing topics like advance directives and palliative care. A panel of medical experts from Schneck will provide guidance and practical steps for planning.
Featured Speakers and Panelists:
- Dr. Ryan Stone, Schneck’s chief medical officer, will discuss advance directives.
- Dr. David Hartung of Schneck Primary Care will offer practical steps for creating an advance directive.
- Dr. Micha Fischer of Schneck Internal Medicine will explain the role of palliative care.
The event will also feature a panel discussion with:
- Dr. Pam Snook-Tidd, Family Medical Center and Schneck Hospice medical director
- Dr. Jordan Maryfield, Schneck Cancer Center oncologist
- Rachel Bullard, Director of Schneck Home Health & Hospice
- Leighana Crenshaw, a licensed social worker with Schneck Home Health & Hospice
The “Covered and in Control” series aims to empower the community with the knowledge needed to make informed healthcare decisions. The series will also include a session on navigating Medicare Advantage in October.
