SHOALS – Residents of Martin County will have convenient access to potentially life-saving lung cancer screenings when IU Health’s mobile lung screening unit visits on Monday, August 4th. The unit will be stationed in the Redemption Christian Church parking lot from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This state-of-the-art mobile unit offers quick, non-invasive, low-dose CT scans designed to detect early signs of lung cancer, significantly increasing the chances of successful treatment.
Appointments are required for a screening and can be made by calling 317-962-5864 or by emailing lungscreening@iuhealth.org.
Most insurance plans cover the screenings. Furthermore, eligible uninsured individuals may be able to receive the service at no cost, thanks to available programs.
To qualify for a lung cancer screening, participants must meet specific criteria:
- Be between 50 and 77 years of age.
- Have a 20-pack-year smoking history (calculated by multiplying the number of packs of cigarettes smoked per day by the number of years smoked).
- Be a current smoker or have quit within the last 15 years.
This initiative provides a vital opportunity for at-risk individuals in Martin County to undergo a crucial screening close to home.
