BREMEN – Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott has announced the promotion of First Sergeant Tony Slocum to the rank of Lieutenant, where he will assume the role of District Commander for the Indiana State Police Bremen Post. Lieutenant Slocum earned this promotion through a rigorous competitive testing and interview process.

A native of Indianapolis, Lt. Slocum is a graduate of Cathedral High School. He went on to earn a degree in communications from St. Joseph’s College in 1994.
Lt. Slocum began his distinguished career with the Indiana State Police upon graduating from the 57th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy on June 13, 1999. He was initially assigned to the Indianapolis District, where he patrolled Marion County for approximately eighteen months before transferring to the Peru District. In Peru, Slocum patrolled Fulton County until his promotion to Sergeant in 2005, at which point he served as the Peru District Public Information Officer. His dedication and leadership were further recognized in February 2023, when he was promoted to First Sergeant and served as the Bremen Post Assistant District Commander.
Throughout his extensive service with the Indiana State Police, Lt. Slocum has held various key roles, including Field Training Officer (FTO) and a member of the Tactical Intervention Platoon (TIP). His commitment to public safety was highlighted in 2005 when he received a Lifesaving Award for his swift action in using an AED on a man whose heart had stopped. Lt. Slocum is also a graduate of the IMPD Leadership Academy and has been a consistent presence at the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400 races annually.
Lt. Slocum resides in Fulton County with his wife. He is a proud father to a daughter living in Lafayette, IN, and a son who serves as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army at Fort Bragg. Beyond his professional duties, Lt. Slocum remains actively involved in his community, notably serving as a high school football coach at Caston High School.
