BLOOMINGTON – The Indiana State Police Bloomington District proudly welcomed cyclists from the annual “Cops Cycling for Survivors” event on Friday, July 18th, marking the completion of Day 12 of their arduous 13-day journey across Indiana. The ride serves as a profound tribute to law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty, their surviving families, and the agencies they served.

As the cyclists traversed through Monroe County, they took a special moment to honor two local heroes: Deputy Sheriff Sarah Haylett-Jones, who passed away on October 19, 2008, and Reserve Deputy Sheriff James A. Driver, who passed away on March 29, 2021.
Upon their arrival, the dedicated cyclists met with area survivors for a poignant dinner, fostering a vital connection between those who serve and the families who have endured immense loss. The Indiana State Police extended their gratitude to Trooper Logan McDowell for his assistance with escort duties, ensuring the safety of the cyclists throughout their passage.

Cops Cycling for Survivors is an annual event that raises awareness and funds to support the families of fallen law enforcement officers in Indiana. Their journey around the state not only honors the ultimate sacrifice made by these brave individuals but also serves as a poignant reminder of their enduring legacy. The cyclists are set to complete their final day of the ride tomorrow.
