Obituary: Karen Sue (Short) Arthur

January 18, 1950 – July 15, 2025

Karen Sue (Short) Arthur, 75 of Bloomfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 15, 2025.

She was born in Olney, Illinois, on January 18, 1950, to Estele and Clara (Meeks) Short.

Karen worked at GE and Cook Incorporated in Bloomington. She loved watching NCIS and working word search books. Karen was a funny, fun-loving lady who loved her family deeply. Karen loved Chicken Livers and KFC, and let’s not forget Pepsi.

Karen married George “Keith” Arthur, Sr., on April 27, 1977, and he preceded her in death on October 3, 2016.

Her children survive Karen, Michael Wayne (Michelle) Resler of Great Falls, Montana, Ivan Cory (Margaret) Resler of Bloomington, and Eric Scott Resler and his wife Michelle of Bloomfield, with whom Karen lived with the past four years, step-grandchildren, Michael Arthur of Bloomfield, George Arthur, Jr., and Jeffrey (Michelle) Arthur of Ohio, grandchildren, Brian Resler, Devan Resler, Chandler Resler, Caleigh Resler, Ryan Resler, Angel Resler, and Tyler Heinich. Several great grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and her best friend of many years, Cheryl Speer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George “Keith” Arthur, Sr., sister, Deborah Garrett, and brother Steven Short, stepson, William Arthur, and grandson, Christopher Heinich.

A very special THANK YOU to Southern Care Hospice and her amazing nurses, Marnie, Carol, Samantha, Xenia, and Heather, and her aides, Shannon, Jessica, and Desiree. Also, special thanks to Stella & Dwight Weedon for the amazing care you provided over the past four years, and to Paige Elliott.

A special thank you also goes to OkChu and Robert Blevins for everything you do for our family, and to Delores Strieby, who helped in so many ways.

We love all those who have helped us with Karen over the years; we could not have done it without you.

There will be no services, but a celebration of Karen’s life will take place on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Eric & Michelle’s home, located at 9610 East State Road 54, in Bloomfield.

Revelations 21:4 “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. And death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
