Sheriff praises department after intensive search to find missing juvenile

BEDFORD – Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day praised the men and women of his department during the commissioners meeting Tuesday morning after finding 12-year-old Timothy Huggins, who had been reported as a runaway/missing juvenile.

Sheriff Day reported that deputies had been actively searching for Timothy since he was reported missing from the Judah area. Officers diligently followed up on tips and checked numerous possible locations during the search.

“He was missing for around 32 hours,” Sheriff Day stated, “but I need to give a big shout out to the men and women in the department who worked nonstop to locate the boy. We found him safe early this morning.”

In other news, Sheriff Day provided an update on jail numbers, noting a slight increase. As of Tuesday morning, there were 86 inmates housed in the Lawrence County Jail. This total included 74 males and 12 females, along with seven individuals being held for the Department of Corrections and two Level 6 felons.
