SEYMOUR – The Seymour Fire Department invites the community to celebrate the arrival of its newest fire truck with a traditional “push-in ceremony” on Tuesday, July 15th, at 6:30 p.m. The event will take place at Station 3 as the department officially welcomes the new Ladder 3 fire truck into city service.

The “push-in ceremony” is a time-honored tradition in the fire service, with roots tracing back to the 1800s. In those early days, horse-drawn fire apparatus were difficult to back into firehouses. Firefighters would manually push the heavy vehicles into the station, a practice that evolved into a symbolic welcome for new equipment.

The public is encouraged to attend and witness this unique ceremony, a nod to firefighting history, and get a closer look at the advanced equipment now serving the Seymour community.
