BLOOMINGTON – A man has been arrested in Iowa and charged with child molesting, a Level 1 felony, following allegations of sexual assault against a 4-year-old girl in Bloomington. Michael A. Morgan, 37, faces a potential prison sentence of 20 to 40 years if convicted.

According to the probable cause affidavit, investigators first learned of the alleged abuse on June 1, 2025, when the girl’s mother contacted Bloomington police. The document states that Morgan sexually assaulted the child from February 2025 through May 2025.
During a forensic interview, the young victim reportedly confirmed the abuse, indicating it occurred multiple times when Morgan was watching her. Court documents also allege that Morgan took sexually abusive pictures of the girl.
The 4-year-old told investigators that Morgan instructed her to keep the abuse a secret, telling her, “This is just between you and me.” He allegedly offered her candy and threatened to withhold it if she disclosed what happened.
Morgan was in Bloomington from February to May before returning to his home in Iowa. Investigators obtained a search warrant for electronic devices he left behind in Indiana, as well as his social media accounts. This search reportedly uncovered a large amount of child sexual abuse material images and videos associated with his accounts, along with websites featuring sexual content.
Police subsequently arrested Morgan in Iowa. He is currently being held at the Monroe County Jail. Court records indicate he had his initial hearing on Thursday.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. This article is based on the information provided in the Probable Cause Affidavit and does not represent a final determination of guilt or innocence.
