Driver arrested for OWI, endangering minors

FLOYD CO. — A traffic stop on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, resulted in the arrest of a driver for Operating While Intoxicated with two underage children in the vehicle.

Around 9 p.m., ISP Trooper Jeremy Simcoe was traveling westbound on Interstate 265 near the 2-mile marker when he observed a black Toyota SUV traveling at high speed in the right lane. Simcoe clocked the vehicle at 96 mph before it moved to the left lane, passing him at 85 mph without signaling. The SUV then returned to the right lane.

Trooper Simcoe also observed two underage children present in the vehicle during the incident.

Arrangements were made for a family member to retrieve the children and the vehicle.

Following the investigation, Jacob Bland was booked into the Floyd County Jail on charges of Operating While Intoxicated, two counts of Operating While Intoxicated with a Minor in the Vehicle, each a Level 6 felony, and Operating While Intoxicated – Endangerment, a Class A Misdemeanor. The investigation is ongoing.
