Annual golf tournament to benefit D.A.R.E. program

COLUMBUS – The Columbus and Bartholomew County D.A.R.E. program will benefit from its annual golf tournament on August 1st at Otter Creek Golf Course. Registration is officially open for the event, which serves as a crucial fundraiser for the drug abuse education initiative.

This year’s tournament boasts an impressive prize lineup, including a $10,000 award courtesy of Richard Hawes Insurance, a new vehicle from Country Chevrolet, and free steak dinners for a year from Texas Roadhouse.

According to the Columbus Police Department, the D.A.R.E. program relies heavily on donations and fundraising, with annual expenditures ranging from $15,000 to $20,000. The golf tournament is a significant contributor to these necessary funds.

To sign up a team, donate, or arrange a sponsorship, interested parties can contact Lt. Skylar Berry with the Columbus Police Department at 812-376-2605.
