United Way of South Central Indiana has received two new grants to support the growth of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, an early literacy program providing free books to children from birth to age five.
A $10,000 grant from the CenterPoint Energy Foundation and a $500 Spark Good Local Grant from Walmart will allow more children across Greene, Lawrence, Orange, and Owen counties to receive monthly, high-quality books directly to their homes.
The funding will help expand access to this nationally recognized program, which builds early literacy skills and supports school readiness for young learners. Families enrolled in the program receive one free, age-appropriate book each month until the child turns five.
CenterPoint’s investment will directly support children in Lawrence County, while Walmart’s grant will assist with regional expansion across multiple counties.
The Imagination Library is a cornerstone of United Way’s early childhood education efforts and continues to grow thanks to partnerships and community support.
