MEDORA — Tickets are now available for the 14th annual Dinner on the Bridge, a unique fundraising event held at the historic Medora Covered Bridge. The bridge, a local landmark, spans the East Fork of the White River, running parallel to State Road 235.

The evening meal, also referred to as “supper” by some, is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Medora Covered Bridge (FMCBA). It is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, August 2nd, directly on the bridge itself.
Tickets are priced at $35.00 per person. Checks can be made out to FMCBA and mailed to P.O. Box 132, Medora, IN 47260. Due to recent delays in U.S. mail delivery, tickets will also be available for purchase at the merchandise booth on the day of the dinner. Additionally, tickets can be purchased in advance at the Jackson County Visitor Center in Seymour and the State Bank of Medora.

The caterer from last year’s successful event is returning to serve a “fantastic meal.” The menu features a choice of almond-baked chicken or slow-cooked roast beef. Accompaniments include a spring mix salad with strawberries, oranges, almonds, and raspberries, along with homemade cheese potatoes, green beans, and freshly baked bread and rolls. Beverages will include lemonade, iced tea, and water.
The Medora Covered Bridge itself boasts a rich history, having been built in 1875 by J. J. Daniels. Utilizing the Burr (Arch) design, its construction took nine months and cost $18,142. The bridge was covered to protect its wooden structure from the elements, a common practice for covered bridges of its era. Before its construction, the river was crossed by ferry.
