Catfish Fever Kid’s Tournament returns to Williams July 12 with a mission to inspire the next generation

WILLIAMS — A favorite summer tradition is casting off once again — the Catfish Fever Kid’s Tournament is set for Saturday, July 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the upper boat ramp in Williams, Indiana.

“The real vision is, this generation, and generations to come — we have to keep this around for them,” said Frank Wyciskalla, acting director of Catfish Fever. “Some of these kids have never held a fishing pole, and this may spark an interest. There is so much bad out there in the world, we are just looking forward to a good day of fishing.”

Drinking water will be provided, and participants are encouraged to come prepared for any weather. While life jackets are recommended, they are not required.

“Whether you catch a shoestring, a boot, or a fish, you’re a winner,” Wyciskalla added. “This event is about what matters: getting outside with your family and your community.”

Organizers are working hard to ensure every child leaves with their very own fishing pole — and they’re calling on the community to help make it happen.

The event is still in need of sponsors and donations, with all contributions going directly toward prizes, gear, and giveaways for the kids. Businesses or individuals who contribute will receive a thank-you post on the Catfish Fever Facebook page.
