Long-time Greene County Daily World building sold, New local chapter begins

LINTON – The Greene County Daily World’s long-standing home on South Main Street in Linton has been officially sold, marking the end of an era for the local newspaper and the beginning of a new chapter for the prominent downtown building.

Courthouse property records confirm the transfer of ownership of the nearly 8,000-square-foot structure to a private local buyer.

Plans are already underway to repurpose the space, with at least one established local tenant expected to occupy a portion of the building. This move ensures the property will continue to serve the Linton and surrounding communities, rather than remaining vacant or being acquired by an out-of-town entity.

For decades, the building housed the Greene County Daily World. At the same time, those days appear to be over; the property’s new local ownership and intended use suggest a continued commitment to community service.

As for the Greene County Daily World newspaper, it appears to have been fully absorbed into the Vincennes-based Sun-Commercial, now operating as part of its broader regional operations. One former Greene County Daily World reporter is known to continue covering the local area remotely.
