Bellush cards hot 68 to win Senior City title

BEDFORD – J.T. Bellush was as hot as the sultry weather, firing a sizzling 4-under 68 in the second round to win the Bedford Men’s Senior City golf tournament at Otis Park on Sunday.

Bellush finished 36 holes at 2-under 142 while pulling away to a six-shot win over first-round leader Brian Brinegar in the Championship Flight.

Other winners included Peggy Taylor (Women’s City), Emma Endris (Girls Junior) and Evan Tillett (Boys Junior).

Bellush, who started the second round one shot back, birdied the fifth and sixth holes on the front to make the turn in 1-under 36, then erupted on the back nine with seven consecutive pars before finishing with a flourish. He eagled the par-5 17th and birdied the par-3 18th to pull away from Brinegar (who was tied for the lead on the 17th tee) and close out his title.

Taylor posted a second-round 80 to finish 36 holes at 154, carding an 11-shot win. Endris fired an 85 in the second round to take the Girls Junior by eight strokes, and Tillett carded a second-day 78 to win the Boys Junior by a comfortable 30 shots.

The Bedford Men’s City tournament is set to begin on July 12.
