Martin County 4-H Fair to host goat costume contest July 12

LOOGOOTEE — The Martin County 4-H Fairgrounds will add a splash of humor and creativity to its schedule on Saturday, July 12, 2025, as 4-H youth and their goats take center stage for the annual Goat Costume Contest.

The light-hearted event will begin at 6:30 p.m., or following the conclusion of the Goat Show, inside the 4-H Fairgrounds Show Arena. Participants will dress their goats in themed outfits ranging from superheroes and farmers to princesses and even tacos.

“This is always one of the most entertaining events of the fair,” said event organizers. “The creativity and joy these kids bring really showcase the spirit of 4-H.”

Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third place across multiple age groups. Longtime supporter and fair favorite Noel Harty will serve as judge.

The event is free and open to the public. Spectators are encouraged to attend and cheer on what promises to be the “silliest strut in the barn.”
