James Kimmel, 96, of Bedford, passed away at Majestic Care in Bedford on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Born on Saturday, May 18, 1929, he was the son of the late Clinton Kimmel and Bessie (Wolfinger) Kimmel.
James was a retired roofer. He had the gift of a green thumb, enjoyed cutting firewood, and was an avid fisherman. He loved hunting for geodes and working at the stone yard with his nephews; however, his true love was the gathering of his family.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his four children, Howard Kimmel, Jimmy (Joyce) Kimmel, Delois Fisher, Lisa (Michael) Murphy; 16 Grandchildren, Brian Lake, Carrie Ann Chastain, Toby Kimmel, Danielle Estell, Jamie Hall, Patsy Schuler, Danielle Hatfield, Wade Stevens, Danielle Stevens, Andrew Kimmel, Brian Murphy, Killian Murphy, Aleesha Murphy, Misty Harris, Scott Harris, and Jacob Stevens; son-in-law, Eddie Lake, and one brother, George (Kay) Kimmel; along with several great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding James in death are his parents, Clinton and Bessie Kimmel, two daughters; Marilian Conley and Carrie Mae Lake; five grandchildren, Ginger, Jeffrey, Melissa, Michelle and Tommy, two great grandchildren, Corie Hall and Natilie Lake, and 7 siblings, Bob Kimmel, Jack Kimmel, Charles Kimmel, John Kimmel, Loyde Kimmel, Genevie Kimmel, and Marie Kimmel.
Funeral Services for James will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 11:00 am at The Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford with Pastor Tom East officiating. Burial to follow at Springville West Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, from 9:30 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel in Bedford.
