MONROE CO. – Fire crews from the Monroe Fire Protection District and Ellettsville Fire Department battled a significant structure fire on West Deckard Drive in the early hours of Monday, June 9, 2025.


Emergency dispatchers received reports of visible flames erupting from the roof of a residence shortly after 3:00 a.m. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire involvement in the roof of the structure and immediately initiated suppression efforts.


The firefighting operation was complicated when the roof of the home collapsed, posing additional challenges for the crews. Despite this setback, firefighters worked diligently for several hours to bring the blaze under control and extinguish it.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
