BLOOMINGTON—Three local groups united in their opposition to the Trump administration are coming together to host No Kings Bloomington on Saturday, June 14, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. outside the Monroe County Courthouse. Indivisible South Central Indiana, the Monroe County Democratic Party, and Bloomington 50501 are jointly organizing the event to educate the public about the impact of the administration’s cuts on the Bloomington community.

The event will feature remarks from local leaders, veterans, and community members, live music, and a food drive benefiting the Hoosier Hills Food Bank.
In addition, the event will feature a Community Impact Fair highlighting nonprofits and community groups whose operations have been impacted by funding cuts and other actions at the federal and state levels. Community organizations represented will include the Community Kitchen of Monroe County, the Bloomington Housing Authority, Exodus Refugee Immigration, the Monroe County Education Association, the Red Cross Southeast Chapter, and others.
“Trump is using millions of our tax dollars to pay for his birthday military parade, and at the same time, Republicans are claiming there’s no money for Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security. The No Kings event is intentionally scheduled on the day of Trump’s parade to call out his administration’s corruption and greed,” says Jane Silva, co-founder of Indivisible South Central Indiana.
“No Kings is about resisting egregious government overreach and protecting our community in Monroe County. For anyone who thinks Trump has gone too far, this event is for you,” says Chrissie Geels, Vice Chair of the Monroe County Democratic Party.
“No Kings Bloomington is more than a protest. Our community is already being impacted by Trump’s cuts and corruption. At our event, people can learn more about what’s happening and take action to support our neighbors who need help,” says Shaun, an organizer with Bloomington 50501.
All members of the public are welcome to attend the event and are encouraged to bring unopened, unexpired, canned or boxed food items for Hoosier Hills. Learn more at the event website: https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/789156/
