INDIANA – Gasoline prices in Indiana have continued their recent decline, falling 7.0 cents per gallon in the last week to average $ 2.99 per gallon today. This marks a decrease of 9.2 cents per gallon compared to a month ago and a significant drop of 31.1 cents per gallon from prices a year ago, according to a GasBuddy survey of 3,271 stations across the state.
The cheapest station in Indiana was reported at $2.46/g yesterday, while the most expensive reached $3.59/g, a difference of $1.13/g. The national average price of diesel has also decreased by 1.7 cents in the last week, settling at $3.448 per gallon.
Nationally, the average price of gasoline has decreased by 1.8 cents per gallon over the past week, now averaging $ 3.07 per gallon. This national figure is down 5.2 cents from a month ago and 32.8 cents lower than a year ago.
“Average gas prices declined in nearly all states over the last week as refineries ramped up output and gasoline supplies surged,” said Patrick de Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “While a few states experienced price cycling—a pattern where prices drop sharply and then spike every couple of weeks—the overall gentle downward trend is typical as summer progresses. If oil prices continue to rise gradually, it could eventually impact gas prices, but for now, we likely won’t see any major shifts at the pump in most areas this week.”

Looking back, current Indiana prices are notably lower than recent years. On June 9, 2024, Indiana’s average price was $3.30/g, and on June 9, 2023, it was $3.65/g. Prices were significantly higher at $5.23/g on June 9, 2022. For comparison, on June 9, 2015, the price in Indiana was $2.62/g.
