LINTON– The Linton Police and Fire Departments responded to a residential trailer fire on D Street, southeast of the railroad tracks in Linton, around 12:20 a.m. on Sunday, June 8.
Upon extinguishing the blaze, fire personnel and police officers discovered a deceased male inside the residence. First responders noted the injuries on the victim were not consistent with a fire. An autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The Linton Police Department quickly secured the scene as a crime scene and contacted Indiana State Police Detectives for assistance, initiating a homicide investigation.
Linton Police Officer Cade Herndon and Detective Logan Hobbs acted on initial information, leading to the apprehension of a potential suspect at a local gas station. The Linton Police Department has stated there is no further threat to the community.
The Linton Police Department is continuing to assist the Indiana State Police in this ongoing investigation.
