MONTGOMERY CO. – Two individuals were arrested on Friday, May 30, 2025, in Waynetown, Indiana, following an investigation by Trooper Bradley Howell and other troopers from the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post. The arrests were made on multiple drug-related charges, including dealing methamphetamine.
The arrests stemmed from a thorough investigation conducted by Trooper Howell, which led to the securing of a search warrant for a residence on Liberty Street in Waynetown. Upon execution of the warrant, troopers safely located and detained James Potter, 53, and Jessica Potter, 40. During the subsequent search of the residence, law enforcement officials recovered suspected methamphetamine, unidentified pills, marijuana, and various items of drug paraphernalia.
Both James and Jessica Potter were taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail. The suspected methamphetamine and unidentified pills will be sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory for comprehensive analysis to determine their precise weight and composition.
The arrested individuals and their preliminary charges are as follows:
James Potter, 53, of Waynetown:
- Dealing Methamphetamine – Level 4 Felony
- Possession of Methamphetamine – Level 6 Felony
- Maintaining a Common Nuisance – Level 6 Felony
- Dealing Marijuana – Class A Misdemeanor
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Prior) – Class A Misdemeanor
- Possession of Marijuana – Class B Misdemeanor
Jessica Potter, 40, of Waynetown:
- Dealing Methamphetamine – Level 3 Felony
- Possession of Methamphetamine – Level 5 Felony
- Maintaining a Common Nuisance – Level 6 Felony
- Dealing Marijuana – Level 6 Felony
- Possession of a Legend Drug – Level 6 Felony
- Possession of a Controlled Substance – Level 6 Felony
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Prior) – Class A Misdemeanor
- Possession of Marijuana (Prior) – Class A Misdemeanor
The Indiana State Police received assistance from additional troopers from the Lafayette Post and the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office throughout the course of the investigation.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
