Loogootee Senior Center gets colorful revitalization kickstart

LOOGOOTEE – A wave of positive change is beginning at the Loogootee Senior Center, and it’s starting with a splash of color thanks to the artistic talents of Loogootee High School senior Ella Parker. As part of her community service project, Parker is currently painting a vibrant mural at the center, a creative endeavor that signifies the start of a broader revitalization effort.

This initiative is a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Martin County Alliance for Economic Growth, working in partnership with the City of Loogootee, Loogootee High School, and the Martin County Council on Aging. The project’s overarching goal is to transform the existing Senior Center into a dynamic multigenerational space, fostering connection and engagement across different age groups within the community.

Organizers emphasize the importance of this project, particularly given that over 21% of Loogootee’s residents are over 65. The revitalization aims to create a more inclusive and vibrant environment for all.

Ella Parker’s mural serves as the initial spark for this transformation, with more updates and developments expected as the initiative progresses. The community is eagerly anticipating the evolution of the Loogootee Senior Center into a thriving hub for residents of all ages.
