Bloomington Women in Leadership to partner with Pathways for community service project

BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington Women in Leadership (BWIL) is organizing its 2025 “Engage” service project to support Pathways, a local non-profit organization. The “BWIL Engage Service Project with Pathways” event will occur on Friday, June 13th, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Pathways’ location at 827 West 14th Court in Bloomington.

BWIL, an organization built on the core pillars of Inspire, Engage, Elevate, and Empower, designates its “Engage” events to partner with local non-profits and contribute to the Bloomington community. Participants in this upcoming project will have the opportunity to assist Pathways staff with various essential tasks, including deep cleaning and organization projects, outdoor painting, landscaping and maintenance, and installing sound panels.

Volunteers can choose to participate in two-hour shifts, with options for morning (10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) or afternoon (1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.) slots available during registration.

A range of volunteer project opportunities is available to suit different interests and abilities:

  • Deep clean & reorganize the library
  • Deep clean & sort donations in the food pantry
  • Paint a small efficiency housing unit
  • Re-paint parking lot lines
  • Weed eating and outdoor maintenance
  • Gutter cleaning
  • Deep clean & organize the outreach closet
  • Install ceiling sound panels
  • Install felt soundproofing panels in the multi-purpose room

In addition to hands-on volunteer work, BWIL is holding a donation drive to help stock Pathways with much-needed essentials. Community members are encouraged to bring the following items:

  • Diapers (especially sizes 4–6)
  • Pull-Ups (sizes 2T–4T)
  • Wipes
  • All-purpose cleaner, sponges
  • Laundry detergent
  • Personal hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, baby shampoo, soap, toothpaste, period products, etc.)
  • Monetary donations for new rubber mulch on the playground
