Bloomington Housing Authority offers eviction prevention assistance

BLOOMINGTON—The Bloomington Housing Authority (BHA) offers an Eviction Prevention Fund to help individuals and families stay home. This program provides one-time emergency financial assistance to those struggling with overdue rent or utilities.

Who Qualifies:

To be eligible for this assistance, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a resident of the City of Bloomington.
  • Household income must fall below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
  • Must be within 14 days of their landlord filing for eviction.

How to Participate:

Individuals who meet the qualifications and are interested in participating in the Eviction Prevention program need to take the following steps:

  • Submit a completed program application.
  • Provide a Statement of Intent to Evict from their landlord.
  • Participate in a Renter’s Education Seminar.
  • Sign the Program Agreement (both Tenant and Landlord).
  • Attend monthly check-ins with the Housing Stability Coordinator for the duration of their lease.
