Williams man arrested on methamphetamine dealing charges following ISP investigation

BEDFORD – A months-long investigation conducted by detectives from the Indiana State Police (ISP) Drug Enforcement Section culminated in the arrest of a Williams man on Monday, May 5th.

Demetrious Coleman, 40, of Williams, was apprehended during a traffic stop. The arrest followed multiple tips received by DES detectives, leading to controlled methamphetamine purchases from Coleman in the spring of 2025. Detectives employed various investigative methods and executed search warrants, ultimately leading to Coleman’s arrest Monday afternoon.

The opportunity for the arrest arose when DES Detectives learned that Coleman was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on Sherwood Road in Mitchell. Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day observed a traffic violation and initiated a stop. Coleman was identified and found to have marijuana at the time of the stop.

Demetrious Coleman was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lawrence County Jail, where he was charged with dealing in methamphetamine, a Level 2 felony, and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.

The ISP DES Detectives received assistance during the arrest from ISP Troopers Chance Humphrey and Richard Klun, as well as Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies Anthony Pope and Robbie Compton.

All criminal defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
