Vice Adm. Scott Gray, Commander, Navy Installations Command

Vice Adm. Scott Gray, Commander, Navy Installations Command, lauded the dedication and bravery of Navy firefighters and emergency responders. “Becoming a firefighter or emergency responder requires unique qualities: strength, endurance, and above all, bravery,” he stated. “You step into difficult situations, often at great personal risk, and put others ahead of yourselves.”

The Navy’s F&ES Awards Program, established in 1997, aims to recognize excellence in mission support and fire protection management. The Fire Chief of the Year award considers accomplishments, job performance, leadership, initiative, technical competence, and professional credentials.

Carl B. Glover Jr, CNIC F&ES Director, praised the commitment of the award recipients. “Working in Navy Fire & Emergency Services for the past 22 years has allowed me the privilege of working alongside some of the best in the business, who are dedicated, skilled, and always ready to serve,” he said. “Our first responders not only serve their base but also their surrounding communities. I’m honored to be here to recognize their unwavering dedication to protecting life and safety.”

Bradley Beaty’s selection as Fire Chief of the Year underscores the vital role of the F&ES personnel at NSA Crane in ensuring the safety and security of the installation and potentially the surrounding communities. His dedication and leadership have earned him this significant recognition within the entire U.S. Navy.

NSA Crane is part of Navy Region Midwest, which also saw Mark Chaney (retired) recognized in the Navy F&ES Hall of Fame for his contributions as Region Fire Chief.
