Tanksley blasts two HRs as Stars crush Trinity

SEYMOUR – Bedford North Lawrence’s Tate Tanksley slugged two home runs as the Stars crushed Trinity Lutheran 20-0 in five innings during high school baseball action on Thursday.

Tanksley drove in five runs as BNL (5-3) cruised to a mercy-rule triumph. He belted a solo homer leading off the second inning, then ripped a grand slam to cap the scoring in the fifth.

The Stars collected 12 hits. Lucas Ira, Charlie Keith and Zade Carter had two each, Cal Gates drove in three runs, and Tyler Stigall finished with three RBIs during the offensive onslaught.

”We came out and took care of business,” BNL coach Steven McNabb said.

BNL starter Cam Gates struck out 5 in four hitless innings on the mound. The Cougars got their only hit, a single by Drake Goodpaster, leading off the fifth.

The Stars will host Jeffersonville on Friday.
