LINTON – Linton hurler Keelei Brown shut down Bedford North Lawrence as the Miners posted a 2-1 victory during high school softball action on Friday night.
Brown went the distance, striking out six while scattering six hits, to silence an BNL offense that was averaging over 6 runs per contest.
BNL scored its run in the second. Sara Williams singled, took second on a fielder’s choice and scored on a Dalanie Davis single. But that would be the only noise for the Stars.
The Miners pulled even at 1-1 in the bottom of the second on a two-out RBI single by Laila Gennicks. They scored the go-ahead run in the third on a two-out, bases-loaded single by Bella Franklin.
Davis and Kendall Graves had two hits each for BNL. Karsyn Coleman suffered the loss in the circle, giving up six hits in five innings.
The Stars (9-5) will visit rival Floyd Central on Tuesday. BNL’s Jo Underwood Invitational, scheduled for Saturday, was postponed because of predicted weather.
