BNL boys win North Knox Invitational

BNL’s Tripp Stahl won the shot put during the North Knox Invitational on Friday.

BICKNELL – Bedford North Lawrence won the North Knox Invitational during boys high school track action on Friday night.

The Stars totaled 124 points in the 10-team event. Barr-Reeves was second with 116 while South Knox was third with 83.5. In the girls meet, the Stars finished third with 94 points. Sullivan won that title with 101, while Linton was second with 99 points.

BNL won three events in the boys meet. Tripp Stahl unleashed a throw of 52-1.5 to win the shot put, Orion Hill uncorked a throw of 142-7 to take the discus, and Brayden Patterson sailed over 6-4 to win the high jump.

“It was a great team effort,” BNL coach Brett Deckard said. “We scored in every event and won some, but it was a great team victory.”

In the girls meet, Paige Voigtschild was a double winner for BNL, crossing first in the 1600 (5:33.70) and 3200. The Stars also won the 3200 relay as Voigtschild, Elise Williams, Avery Brown and Gracie Simmerman clocked 10:42.26.

BNL will return to action at Edgewood on Tuesday.
